Wedding Dreams

As a web site owner I get my share of letters asking me to please
link to this or that website.
Normally I don't. Especially if the site in question is
promoting one of the many online
ventures which are of dubious legitimacy or simply have nothing
to do with poems.
Now and then I get such a request from another site which does
have some relevance to my occasionalpoems.com site and I will
dutifully swap links.
This means we each tuck the others website information away in
some back page where no one ever visits, but will hopefully be
found by google and yahoo and earn us both a brownie point. It
was a matter of faith that this sort of practice actually did
some good.
Then one day, not long ago I had a brainstorm.
www.1weddingsource.com asked me to swap links and I countered
with another offer. I'd write them a poem which they'd feature
on their front page and give me a link and by-line. In return
I'd post the poem with their wedding link on my own site.
Did they go for this? They sure did, and here's the poem I wrote
for them:
Wedding Dreams
Your wedding day approaches, and with it comes your dreams.
The days are filled with planning, with choices, tasks and themes.
You want it to be perfect, to share your joy with all
Your family, friends and loved ones to honor and enthrall.
You've found the place to help you locate everything you need.
"To make your dreams reality," 1 Wedding Source's creed.
Did they post the poem? They certainly did. This is how great
ideas are born.
to help keep those wedding memories fresh and new forever.
